Exterior Painting in Marshall & Madison County, NC

Mountain weather is hard on a house. Sun bakes the south side, rain and snow work into every gap on the north, and a paint job that isn’t built for that cycle starts failing within a couple of seasons. Here’s the process Brian uses on every exterior job, step by step.

1. Wash

Power washing strips off dirt, pollen, mildew, and chalking old paint. Paint doesn’t bond to a dirty surface, no matter how good the brand is.

2. Scrape & Sand

Any failing paint gets scraped and feathered back so the new coat doesn’t telegraph every old ridge and edge underneath.

3. Repair & Caulk

Wood rot gets addressed before it gets painted over, not after. Every gap and seam gets caulked — this is the step that actually keeps water out.

4. Prime

Bare wood and repairs get spot-primed with the right product for the surface, so the topcoat goes on even and stays put.

5. Two Coats, Minimum

Every exterior job gets at least two full coats with proper dry time between them. One coat looks fine at first and fails first.

Color That Actually Works on Your House

Knowing what belongs together on a specific house, in mountain light, comes from doing this for thirty years — not a swatch book. Brian will talk through options before anything goes on the wall. See how he approaches choosing colors.
